My thesis examines the visual arts and communiations within the Black church and its impact on society, addressing he lack of scholarly attention in this area.

Prompted by Sylvia Harris’s essay “Searching for a Black Aesthetic”; this thesis questions whether a design tradition exists that can inspire Black designers, similar to how Black music traditions fuel Black musicians.
